Shikimate Pathways– You have probably never heard of these shikimate pathways, They are not a pathway you walk down, they are metabolic pathways and this is what glyphosate (The active ingredient in RoundUP) interferes with, to kill the plants it is sprayed on. GMO plants are modified to resist this treatment. Being that human’s do not have Shikimate Pathways in their cells, then therefore RoundUP is safe. Right? Wrong, it turns out that all the bacteria that we have in our bodies, which out number our cells 10-1, all have Shikimate Pathways. Without this bacteria we don’t live. In a previous post there was a link to an interview with Dr Stephanie Seneff that is so important we are posting it again. Especially if you have children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, because this stuff really takes a toll on children. Click here to go to this interview.
Last year, groundbreaking research was published suggesting that glyphosate, the active ingredient in Monsanto’s broad-spectrum herbicide Roundup, might be “a crucially important factor in the development of multiple chronic diseases and conditions.”
If you missed it, please take the time to listen to Jeff Smith’s interview with one of the authors of that research, Dr. Stephanie Seneff, reposted above. The lead author and researcher on this groundbreaking study was Anthony Samsel.
They spray nearly one BILLION pounds of Roundup every year for conventional crop production, but genetically engineered (GE) crops see some of the heaviest use, as so-called Roundup Ready crops are designed to withstand otherwise lethal doses of this chemical.
Tests published last year also showed that people in 18 countries across Europe have glyphosate in their bodies,1 while yet a third study revealed the chemical has estrogenic properties and drive breast cancer proliferation in the parts-per-trillion range.2
Now, research published in the International Journal of Toxicology3 in January adds even more fuel to the fire, as it reveals that glyphosate-based formulations like Roundup pose a threat to human health through cytotoxicity and oxidative effects. Such formulations were also found to be lethal to human liver cells. Click Here For The Rest of The Article

As far back as 1954, reports of the full or partial resolution of schizophrenia following a gluten free diet began to surface in the medical literature. We covered this remarkable pattern of associations in a previous article titled, “60 Years of Research Links Gluten Grains to Schizophrenia.” While the explanation for this intriguing connection has remained focused on the disruption of the gut-brain axis and the presence in wheat of a wide range of pharmacologically active and mostly opioid receptor modulating polypeptides, a new and possibly more disturbing explanation is beginning to surface: wheat consumption cuts off blood flow to the brain.
From our friends from Greenmedinfo.com and the founder Sayer Ji, is an excellent article on the negative and widespread effects wheat is playing in our daily lives. Click here to read the full article

Cereal giant General Mills has announced that its original-flavor Cheerios will soon be made without the use of genetically modified (GM) ingredients.
It’s a major step in the right direction that also highlights the changing attitudes among the US public regarding genetically modified organisms (GMOs)… increasing numbers of people simply do not want them in our food. For the rest of the article click here.
This particular post was put up as news about the food industry in general and by no means an endorsement for Cherrios. There is a very good chance that there is more nutrition in the box itself than the product inside. There’s some science here, but for another time. If you can’t get the labeling initiatives past on the ballot, at least you can vote 3 times a day with what you eat and have some effect.

This is the second in what we hope is going to be a long series of posts addressing our health and nutrition. So much attention is being focused on health care at the moment, when the focus should be on our health. Prevention as opposed to disease management. Getting and staying healthy should be the national focus. Our belief is that knowledge is empowering and that it is up to each one of us take charge of our health.
It is estimated that up to 85 percent of people have insufficient levels of vitamin D and are unaware of their deficient state. While conventional media and medicine promote sun avoidance, doing so can actually put your health in grave danger and cause vitamin D deficiency.
A growing body of evidence shows that vitamin D plays a crucial role in disease prevention and maintaining optimal health. There are about 30,000 genes in your body, and vitamin D affects nearly 3,000 of them, as well as vitamin D receptors located throughout your body.
